Some people do not enjoy flying on commercial flights. The experience of flying on a commercial airline has become frustrating for some. People looking for luxury, privacy, and comfort can consider private flights an alternative to what is available at most airlines. Private flights provide convenience and flexibility that just can’t be found anywhere else. Check out the most expensive jets in the world.

Air Force One – $660 million

The most expensive private jet is Air Force One. The American government operates it, and it is a triple-decker, 4,000 square feet that can accommodate 100 passengers plus 26 crew members.  It is equipped with the most sophisticated technology and can travel 650 miles per hour.  It has its hospital and operating theatre, which can withstand earthquakes, nuclear war, and meteor strikes.

The air force once refuels midair and has an unlimited range to carry the President wherever they need to go. The onboard electronics are solidified to defend against an electromagnetic pulse, and Air Force One is equipped with advanced secure communications equipment, enabling the plane to work as a mobile command center in an attack on the USA.

The most important spaces aboard Air Force One are found close to the President’s entrance in the front of the aircraft, like the President’s private office.  After the terror attacks of  9/11, the aircraft was upgraded so President could manage the country from above.

Airbus A380 – $600 million

The Airbus A380 is the biggest passenger plane ever made, and it’s also one of the weightiest, at almost 1.3 million pounds. Its enormous size doesn’t make it a typical choice for luxury private jets unless you’re the Prince of  Saudi Arabia, Alwaleed bin Talal. He bought one when he was at the Dubai Air Show in 2007.

While the prince did not choose to use the huge aircraft jet, it still made news by being known as a flying castle. Inside Airbus A380, the concept has a Turkish bath and two working and living space decks. Furthermore, it has a car garage, and the upper deck was also exclusively home residence for VIP guests.

The weight and size of this luxury aircraft can cause wake turbulence to smaller planes closely following it.  In 2017, a lightweight private jet flipped in the air when it crossed paths with this superjumbo.  New guidelines advise that smaller aircraft must wait four minutes before landing or taking off the same runway that was just used by an A380.

Airbus A340-300 – $500 million

Alisher Usmanov, a Russian billionaire, owns an Airbus A340-300, a plane usually reserved for long journeys thanks to its relaxed onboard conditions and quiet cabin. This luxury private jet features some serious luxe interiors and is bigger than President Vladimir Putin’s Jet plane. Moreover,  Airbus A340-300 offers spacious bedrooms and soft leather seats.

Alisher spent an additional $170 million on interior design to meet his high standards. It’s a private plane prepared for long distances, with a range of 13,699 kilometers, or about the distance of flying from Tokyo to Moscow.

Cool fact: Well-known Rolls Royce automobile manufacturer was also involved in aeronautics manufacture. They took over the development process for the A340 500 and 600 variants and gave them a longer body and larger wings to travel for far distances.

Boeing 747-8 VIP – $367 million

Even though the Boeing 747-8 VIP’s owner is unknown, there is a fair amount of information about this aircraft. One of the largest jets globally made the Air Force One look tiny compared. With a massive 4,786 square feet of space, it’s a private jet converted from a passenger plane to curated luxury, with an office, lounges, stateroom,  and a big dining room more than fit for entertaining.

For 40 years, the Boeing 747 has been the Queen of the Skies, an emblem of air travel. Its introduction in 1968 radically changed the face of air travel forever with its ability to carry more passengers into the air at once than the Douglas DC8 Boeing 707. It reduced the cost per seat, which brought airfares to a level affordable to the commoner, not just the rich.

Cabinet Alberto Pinto designed the interior custom fit to the owner’s taste. Even there are lots of photos of this luxury private jet. You’ll never see pictures of people sleeping in its bedrooms or lounging around on those sofas.

Airbus ACJ350 Custom- $366 million

The ACJ350 is more of a home in the sky than a simple transport mechanism. An initial look puts this luxury private jet in the region of $366 million, but that’s before you consider all of the added extras, including bespoke interior design.

Lufthansa Technik carefully curated it, and the interiors were estimated to come in at an additional $150 million more, making this private aircraft sit more in the region of $500 million from beginning to end. A guest lounge, four bedrooms, a formal dining area seat eight, and a full galley on board.

Bombardier Global 7000- $73 million

The Bombardier Global 7000 is the fourth release from the brand, promising an upgraded and elevated private jet in every sense. Thought to be one of the most capable—and expensive—private jets in the air, it’s got an incredibly long range and can fly non-stop for distances like those in San  Francisco and Sydney or Dubai and  New York.

It’s one with a little different color palette to most private jets, presenting a range of Burgandy and white shades rather than the typical cream. Those looking to buy one can customize it from the bottom to the top, with each plane holding space for up to 19 passengers.
