More often than not, the overall flight experience you have is made possible by the flight attendant. The pilot’s role is to fly you to your destination, more or less primarily. As for your flight attendant, usually your hosts or hostess, the responsibility of making your dream flight come true lies solely on their shoulders.  Their training and experience have enabled them to work towards ensuring your luxury and comfort before, during, and after your flight.

Flight durations vary, and some can be for a few minutes while others can be for hours on end; the attention you get as a passenger will determine what you feel at the end of it. Usually, the care and attention from your flight attendant include the meal service and drinks, personal assistant or attaché, private nurse, baby sitter, dog sitter, among other little petty things that you might want attended to.

Qualities of a VIP Flight Attendant

If you spoke with people who have worked as flight attendants for some time now, you would understand that this job requires total devotion. And seeing that not everyone can meet these demands, not everyone can be a flight attendant; it cannot be compared to any other job field out there. There is more, being a flight attendant on a private jet is different, and on another whole new level. Generally, though, here is what is needed of the perfect flight attendant.

  • You have to be willing to travel from place to place every other week. This is regardless of where you live, as most flight attendants carry their personal effects on them all the time. If you got a client who wants to travel to different cities within one month, you have to be ready and willing to move around with them. More often, this calls for a huge sacrifice from the flight attendants’ end as they may go days or weeks before seeing their friends and families again.
  • A flight attendant needs to be focused and clear in their job. Flying with a VIP client can be hectic because they love and expect superior service from their attendants. And for you to be able to deliver exquisite service, you must be ready, focused, and willing to work. VIP clients may be petty, but it is more about their being aware of their needs than otherwise; as a flight attendant, you will need to pay very keen attention to tiny detail.
  • A flight attendant needs to be keen and attentive always. We learned from a long-time flight attendant that most of her VIP clients need you to be aware of their every need and how to tackle it. It may be a tiny detail of how the pillows on their bed are placed, or even where you place a spoon on their plate. Some of the details are minor, but you will be expected to learn them all and handle them accordingly. More like, know what your client wants, when, and how they want it.
  • A flight attendant needs to be flexible and adaptable. Some of the needs and demands of the clients may change abruptly. For instance, a client may decide to change the course of their flight; you will be required to follow suit and adapt to the change, and be flexible to shift your gear as well.
  • It is required of the flight attendants to be free and offer personalized service. On some occasions, according to some of the flight attendants we spoke to, clients may make pretty serious demands on short notice, like having you organize a party during a flight, for example. In that case, you have to make sure that the entire arrangement is as desired, and also be on the lookout to ensure things remain in order and that there is no going overboard at every stage.
  • High levels of confidence and self-esteem are mandatory for any flight attendant. On several occasions, according to senior flight attendants, clients will make demands for the highest level of service. For you to be able to pull this off, you must be confident with very high self-esteem. Some of the services are more by believing in yourself than what you are taught in training. That is why they say this job is not for everyone; professionalism goes hand in hand with unique and high levels of confidence.
  • The perfect flight attendant needs to learn a thing or two about their clients prior to their flight. Learn how your clients like to be addressed, learn their favorite foods, learn their favorite drinks, and even the magazines they like to read. The key to the perfect service is knowing how to make a lasting impression of your client. Remember, some clients can be fussy and outright, being ready for them when you know that ensures you remain stable in service to them and not let them throw you off your balance with their personalities.
  • Offering personal service to clients will make the flight attendant relate with the client on the humane ground; after all, the clients are as human as you. In the end, you need to remember that it is more about what experience you subject the client to and the impression you leave behind; make it positive and bright.
