It is an absolutely reasonable step for any country to take to put up a list of countries to be voided with the aim of protecting its citizens. A travel ban on a county can be temporary or permanent, but that still is decided by the state that issues the travel ban. While it may sound far-fetched for some people or some countries, issuing a travel ban is entirely healthy and safe for both the countries and the visitors.

Many reasons can prompt a state to issue a travel ban to a given country, permanently or temporarily, and they are mostly linked to security. If a stat knows that its citizens would face a security risk of any kind in a particular country, they close in and proclaim a travel ban to the country at once until further notice. The bottom line is that the state is out to protect and shield its citizens from any form of harm.

The United States is known for putting up travel bans to specific countries for given reasons. As mentioned, the intention is to ensure the safety of American citizens’ lives. It does not matter if it is because of racism, color segregation, or terrorist activities; any harm aimed at the life of an American always prompts the travel ban. The list of the no-travel countries is minimal; good enough so that you can always look for a travel destination from thousands of other countries across the globe.

Americans Should Not Travel to the Following Countries

The United States takes the lives of its people very seriously and will go out of their way to protect them from any harm, which includes air-lifting them out of a specific country or even banning them from traveling to a country altogether. Usually, it affects only leisure travel, vacations, and holiday visits; the other state-related tours go on amid tight protection. Some of the countries you are not supposed to visit as an American Citizen are as follows.

Colombia

Colombia has some of the most stunning travel destinations in the world and was much safer and famous in the recent past. But as is widely known, Colombia is a hotbed for drug trafficking and selling, which affects most regions in the country. Seeing the brutality and the killings that come with the drug trafficking business, Americans are warned not to travel to Colombia, for their safety to avoid being caught in the violence exchange.

Sudan

Sudan remains a security concern not only for Americans but also for the world at large. Cases of terrorist bombings and killings directed at any outsiders are high and may get higher as the days go by. But Sudan has a hidden rage and dislike to westerners, and as such may attack any visitors regardless of the intention of their visit. America warns bout traveling to Sudan for fear of the loss of the lives of its citizens.

Pakistan

Pakistan is known across the globe for being a long-term active warzone. Even more, it has remained an active terrorist zone over the years. As such, the United States warns against traveling to the country, in a bid to protect its people, and especially because the terrorist killings and activities are directed towards foreigners and the US government officials.

Palestine

Palestine and its environs have made it to the travel ban list. It is as a result of the Palestinian view of the United States supporting Israel in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As a result, Palestine sees the United States as an adversary and hence looks down upon the American citizens.

Yemen

The attack by armed terrorists on the US Embassy in Yemen has a lot to do with the travel ban issued on the country. And seeing that another attack was directed at a South Korean march, it appears that Yemen resents foreigners heavily. There is, however, a general rise in terrorist groups and movements in Yemen, and that is enough reason for the United States to bar its people from visiting.

Algeria

Algeria has many regions that are not so safe for American Citizens. Westerners have been a target for many terrorist activities in the country in the recent past. Car bombing, ambushes on tourists and visitors, assassinations of westerners, and even kidnapping of westerners have taken a rise and are becoming a common activity in Algeria. The US warns that the once-safe and beautiful country to visit is no longer safe for its people as it may lead to their torture or even loss of lives.

Jordan

Jordan is not safe for Americans and generally any visitors to travel anymore. Sudden terrorist attacks, pre-warned or otherwise, have risen sharply in the country, and it is worse than they are directed at tourist destinations and popular joints like shopping malls, government facilities, or even transportation spots.

Egypt

Egypt has some of the best tourist attraction spots in the world. While it is not an active warzone or necessarily a terrorist spot, Egypt has a low perception of Americans and the US in general.  This is attributed to the backing of Hosni Mubarak by the US and its lack of preventing the overthrowing of the Muslim Brotherhood. The hostility and dim view of Americans has since resulted in an extra lookout by the US on its citizens traveling to Egypt.

Madagascar

Madagascar is one of the loveliest places to visit on earth as it is. It has the most attractive beaches and the most favorable weather ever. But in the recent past, the country has been engulfed by corruption and serious internal conflicts that risk the lives of any visitors.

Kenya

A wonderful coastline, stretchy white sand beaches, glorious natural sceneries, spending wildlife views, and warm and pleasant weather await you as you arrive in Kenya. Too bad, though, that of late acts of kidnapping and terror attacks in areas frequented by tourists have befallen the beloved country. It is more crucial to be on the lookout around the Kenya- Somalia border.
